Puppies
:
Our Expectations
We
have put a tremendous amount of time, over 12 years of strong commitment to the
breed, and countless hours of learning, into making the decision to breed. As
a result of all this, we want each of our puppies to go to exceptional homes where
they are deeply wanted, respected, and loved, for the rest of their lifetimes.
We expect you to turn
to us at any time in your puppy's life when you have any questions whatsoever.
We are always here to assist you, no matter what kind of question you might have.
We expect you to fully
socialize your puppy, paying particular emphasis to the time period from 8 weeks
until 16 weeks, continuing until it is at least 18 months old. Please see our
section on Socialization. We
expect you to feed your puppy a premium quality dogfood or a very well thought-out
raw food diet that is balanced. Your dog's future orthopedic health has a great
deal to do with its diet. Please see our section on Diet. We
expect you to provide your puppy with adequate exercise, which means daily walks,
as well as plenty of free romping time in a securely-fenced area. Your dog's muscle
and overall body condition are dependent upon this. We
expect you to take your puppy through humane, positive reinforcement-based training
classes starting with Puppy Kindergarten until your dog is two years of age. This
can be any combination of Basic Obedience, Intermediate Obedience, any level of
Agility, Tricks, Pre-Novice, Novice, and others. We
expect you to learn how to handle a dog of this size, so that you are always able
to control your dog. This means teaching your dog to pay attention to you, walk
nicely on leash, and behave around other dogs. Please see our section on Training.
We strongly encourage
you to prepare your dog to obtain a Canine Good Citizen Certificate at some point
in its life. We expect
you to contact us immediately, if at any time in your dogs life, you are
in a situation where you are unable or unwilling to keep it. We would be glad
help you arrange for a new permanent home for your dog. PLEASE do not put your
dog in a shelter. We can help you find a family for your dog if you cannot keep
him or her. |
