Puppies : Kalahari's B-litter : Week Six (5/9/06 - 5/16/06)

The pups now spend a lot of time during the day in the main grassy yard, discovering all sorts of things like sticks, leaves, rose bushes, the play tunnel, kids' slide and play set, and all kinds of toys.

They chase each other around in bursts of energy, and go off in pairs to explore the far corners of the yard. They like the Wiggly-Giggly ball, and enjoy grabbing each end of a rope tug toy to see who will let go first.

They were wormed at 5.5 weeks (and will be again at 7.5 weeks).

They were also introduced to raw chicken wings this week, and loved them. Those kept them very busy for a long time!

Each pup is also placed on a grooming table several times each week for individual handling, light brushing, nail trimming, and just to get them used to the whole idea.

Deia still lies down to nurse them, but not that often now. I doubt that she has much milk left these days.

I spend a lot of time just hanging out in the yard, watching them interact with one another playing.

Each day after school, the neighborhood kids come over to play with and socialize the pups. They absolutely *love* kids!
