Puppies : Kalahari's B-litter : Week Two (4/11/06 - 4/18/06)

Even though they are predominantly still sleeping and nursing, the puppies are getting stronger and more active. We need to keep a good hold on them when they are in our hands, because they can squirm really hard! When mom enters the whelping box, they all scoot their way towards her, making squealing "hungry puppy" noises, till they have all found a spot at the milk bar. Our biggest boy is now over 3 lbs!

They are starting to hold themselves up on their front legs more, and try to use their rear legs to propel themselves forward, albeit in a very wobbly fashion. They manage to get across the length and width of the whelping box (8 ft by 6 ft) fairly quickly.

We also noticed that a few of the puppies are starting to open their eyes very slightly (Day 11). I wonder what they think about their first glimpse into the world surrounding them.
