Puppies : Kalahari's B-litter : Week One (4/4/06 - 4/11/06)

Deia seems to have a lot more milk this time than last time, so the puppies have been very content. They are all gaining weight consistently and at 4 days, the biggest male was almost 2 lbs. Their little bellies are getting fat and rounded, and they are so very cute! Their faces are very wrinkled and scrunched up (see below) for the first couple of weeks, and then they start to widen up.

They basically just eat and sleep - what a life! They like to curl up near one another, or line up next to each other, when sleeping. Mom takes care of all elimination duties for them, and keeps the whelping box spotless. Deia is consuming massive quantities of liquids (milk, yogurt, water, chicken broth) as well as food, to keep up with the milk production necessary for all ten puppies.
