Pedigree Szabo-Kain
v.d Strijpse Kampen, or "Polder," as he's known at home, is a 6-year-old
boy who came to the United States all the way from the Netherlands. He was Best
of Opposite at the Spring 2003 Frontier Leonberger Club Regional show, and Best
of Breed at the Fall 2003 show. Polder has passed the MAG character test required
by the Dutch Leonberger Club. He has a beautiful long and thick reddish coat,
and a great temperament, getting along well with kids, adults, and dogs alike.
From his owners
Paul and Patti Van Gorden in Olathe,
Kansas: Since moving to Kansas a couple of years ago, Polder has been
the star of the neighborhood. Our front yard is the neighborhood dog park. Neighbors
bring their dogs to play with Polder, and to teach them manners. Wrestling matches
between the dogs stay friendly. Family members visit overnight with their dogs/cats
and Polder shares his food and water bowls with them. He loves the snow and cold
weather and stays on our front porch without any restraint. He is a very well
trained Leo while maintaining a sparkle of independence in his eye. He listens
to our 4-year-old granddaughter, Ellie, when she gives him commands and friends
can't believe how well he minds her. Our neighbor's three-year-old twins also
love to hug and stroke Polder and come over most evenings with their dog, Achilles,
to play.
