Leonberger Health : Ongoing Studies

The Leonberger Health Foundation is currently supporting several projects relating to the health of the Leonbergers in this country. Dr. Anita Oberbauer at UC Davis in California, is working hard to find genetic markers for Addison's Disease and at Michigan State University, Dr. Markus Rick is trying to develop a test that will identify genetic carriers of Addison's Disease. Dr. Diane Shelton of UC San Diego and Dr. Ned Patterson of the University of Minnesota are studying the mode of inheritance of Polyneuropathy and Laryngeal Paralysis in Leos with the end goal of obtaining a DNA test to identify carriers.
